Let's Go Mets..F-A-N..na na na

Mets brass fired good guy (if not Miller Huggins) Willie Randolph by press release at 3:14am this morning. The Mets were 3000mi away in Anaheim (they won the game).

Classy!

Team's been basically run by (various idiot GMs, two Wilpons) monkeys since early 90s so this is not surprising.

**Update**: Should have mentioned this before...Baseball genius Jerry Manuel, Randolph's bench coach and former skipper of the Chisox will take over. With Chicago ('98-'03), Manuel compiled a .515 winning %, which the Mets find very sexy.

I am generally in the school of thought that baseball managers dont help much, they basically can only hurt you. So I guess they matter in how little they hurt you. I think with a team as underachieving as the Mets, sometimes a change is warranted as that is the only way to gets the players attention. I will be posting later on the Wang injury and what it means for the Yanks.

I have to say MDC...i'm happy that the era of Big Willie Style is officially over.

I am pretty sure that a Wang injury will hinder the Yanks. Please see double entendre.

Hey, I wasn't a Willie "as a manager" fan. He wasn't very good. But the way the Mets handled this was awful. Their management is a bunch of turds. Manuel will probably have a negligible effect on this team. They are a bunch of losers.

Mannequin, I expect more than "They are a bunch of losers."

I agree with Artie K. Here is an analogy that he and Owitz will understand: mangers are to baseball as diet cokes are to supersized McDonalds meals.

Ok..the Mets are an assortment of underacheiving, baseball ne'er do wells, who lose more than they win.

Lands,

I don't know if I understand your analogy. I am supposed to order two managers with my baseball team so that the people working the drive thru don't think I'm going to eat the whole team by myself?

Managers can certainly help you, AK. Pinella helps, Guillen helps, LaRussa helps....If players like the guy and they're an established baseball mind they can serve as fuel. Willie served as (possibly now, at) a rest-stop on the side of the Thru-way (see: our car at 2:17PM on Thursday).
